The Moment of Municipal Feminism: Gender and Class in 1980s Local Government

This article, written with Irene Bruegel, was based on our experiences of working in local government in the 1980s and 1990s. It looked at the relationship between municipal feminism, the left and the trade union movement. It arose as a response in some ways to certain feminists who had, we felt, been too positive about the achievements for women in local government.
