Personal and Public Histories
Personal and Public Histories: issues in the presentation of the past
Drawing on different examples including commemoration of the slavery past in Lancaster and Sunderland Point, the travelling museum exhibition of Jo Stanley entitled Hello Sailor ! Gay life on the ocean wave and the exhibition at the Museum of London Belonging: voices of London’s refugees this article looks at the apparently personal histories that people construct and their wider context.
The book is an interesting wide-ranging exploration of heritage issues. It’s a pity that it is not in paperback and that it is very expensive!
