The moment of Greyfriars Bobby : the changing cultural position of animals 1800 – 1920

This article looks at the changing cultural position of animals in the nineteenth century. It discusses the role of sight and changing forms and location of animal representation. It discusses ideas of animal agency and loyalty and considers the ways in which ‘real’ animals and their representations were elided.
